The first description from A.B. Stout was not at hand, therefore the description published in his book follows:
" TARUGA (plate 23). First described and flower illustrated in 1933 (Hort. 11: 27). The plant has erect well-branched scapes about three feet tall. The flower is widely spreading to a width of about six inches. The petals are long, somewhat narrow, and noticeably twisted and folded. The color is a clear lemon-yellow with a very faint and hardly noticeable tinge of fulvous in the midzone. Compared with Wau-Bun, which is its seed parent, the flowers are less full, the color is more nearly yellow, the period of flowering is later (July), and the plant is somewhat taller. Selected by Mrs. Barnabas Bryan Jr., in 1931 as an outstanding plant among numerous fine seedlings with large flowers developed at The New York Botanical Garden. "
