In comparison with the Majestic Daylily the Ming Daylily has taller scapes, flowers with less reflexed and more pinched and twisted petals and a somewhat later period of bloom.
The flower coloring is almost uniformly orange (Ridgway), which is nearer the cadmium yellow of Maerz & Paul.
The flowers are large with a spread of as much as six inches. The scapes reach a height of four feet. The foliage is evergreen but not lush.
